The Fort Collins Symphony’s Season of Legends and Legacies continues on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. with an innovative concert sponsored by Premier Stem Cell Institute featuring breathtaking photographic images choreographed to Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings and Gustav Mahler’s Adagietto. A special piece highlighting photographs taken of Fort Collins by local artists is set to the music of Richard Meyer’s A Fiddler’s Fancy and Calvin Custer’s Central Coach Special. Multimedia artist Nicholas Bardonnay with Westwater Arts will spark the Image-Ination with stunning images projected onto an immense 440-square-foot, three panel, and panoramic screen flown above the orchestra.
The magical evening begins with 20th century American composer David Diamond’s Rounds for String Orchestra and ends with preeminent 19th century Czech composer Antonín Dvo?ák’s Serenade for Strings in E Major. Between these aurally compelling pieces, the audience will be equally compelled by the artistry of Nicholas Bardonnay with his mesmerizing visual expressions of the evocative music performed by the Fort Collins Symphony under the direction of Maestro Wes Kenney.
Over 75 images taken by 10 Fort Collins photographers will be featured during the Fort Fun piece with the audience choosing their favorite 3 images. The top three vote-getters will receive a special Fort Collins Symphony 8 x 10 frame featuring their winning photograph at the Masterworks 5 concert on May 14, 2016.
