The Fort Collins Symphony’s Season of Legends and Legacies continues on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. with an innovative concert sponsored by Premier Stem Cell Institute and featuring breathtaking photographic images of Fort Collins projected onto an immense panoramic screen flown above the orchestra.
With the Rocky Mountains as the backdrop, Fort Collins is Northern Colorado’s playground where hiking, biking, and kayaking merge with craft brews, magical views, and activities inspired by the creative muse. Sometimes called the Choice City, the Napa Valley of Beer, or just FoCo, this breathtaking community with a Main Street that inspired Disneyland best suits the nickname of FORT FUN!
It is this playful spirit which multimedia artist Nicholas Bardonnay has captured with his innovative photo-choreographed piece set to the music of Richard Meyer’s A Fiddler’s Fancy and Calvin Custer’s Central Coach Special. In the fall of 2015, the Fort Collins Symphony invited both amateur and professional photographers to submit images reflecting Northern Colorado’s natural beauty, culture, and character. With over 500 images to choose from, Bardonnay selected the top 75 images representing Fort Collins’ fanciful flavor. The precisely cued images will fill an immense 440-square-foot, three-panel, panoramic screen with single, double, and triple image combinations to create a multi-sensory experience as the amazing Fort Collins Symphony performs the unique music.
The following photographers’ work was selected for the Fort Fun piece: Norma Andersen, Joshua Beecher, Jan Buecher, Ryan Burke, City of Fort Collins, Tim O’Hara, Brianne MacRunnel, Amy Jo Martinson, Wayne Morine, Richard Mauro Ricchiuti, Visit Fort Collins, and Bob Willis. Concert attendees will have the opportunity to choose their three favorite images. The top three vote-getters will receive a special Fort Collins Symphony 8 x 10 frame featuring their winning photograph at the Masterworks 5 concert on May 14, 2016.
