You have heard Beethoven’s 5th Symphony many times in movies, commercials, TV shows, cartoons, games, and more. Its iconic opening melody is one of the most recognizable themes in the world. But have you heard this monumental piece of music in person performed live by a professional orchestra? Now is your chance!
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, the Fort Collins Symphony will perform his epic Symphony No. 5 in C minor at 7:30 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Fort Collins Lincoln Center. This titan among symphonies is both a testament to Beethoven’s skills and a powerful symbol of what classical music has to offer. It is a testament to how music can reach the masses even centuries after first being written.
The Fort Collins Symphony, now in its 70th Season and under the direction of Maestro Wes Kenney, will also perform Alexey Shor’s Verdiana for Clarinet and Orchestra, Béla Kovács’ klezmer-toned Sholem Aleichem, Rov Feidman!, and Benjamin Britten’s Four Sea Interludes from the opera, Peter Grimes., Boris Allakhverdyan, Principal Clarinet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, is the featured guest artist.
