Announcing 2016-17 Season!

Fort Collins Symphony Association’s board president Rhett Strom recently announced the Fort Collins Symphony’s 2016-17 Season titled Masters, Marvels & Magic.  Now in its 67th Season, the fully professional orchestra is under the leadership of award-winning conductor Maestro Wes Kenney. Guest artists include previous Young Artist Competition winner pianist Xinyu Chen and two of the New York Philharmonic’s pre-eminent musicians: Assistant concertmaster Michelle Kim and principal trombonist Joe Alessi.

The Season begins on October 8, 2016 with Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The second Masterworks program on November 5, 2016 features Prokofiev’ Symphony No. 1 and Violin Concerto No. 2 and Bizet’s Symphony No. 1 in C.  Highlights of Masterworks 3 on February 4, 2017 include Leonard Bernstein’s Three Dances from On the Town, Rouse’s Trombone Concerto and Brahms Symphony No. 4. The orchestra will perform Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 for the March 4, 2017 Masters of Our Universe concert. For the March 24, 2017 Pops concert, the orchestra will present an entertaining evening of music composed by the Marvelous Magical Movie Master John Williams. The Season concludes with Power & Pyrotechnics on May 13, 2017 with music written by Sibelius, Rimsky-Korsakov and Bruckner.
