Yi-Ching Lee
Yi-Ching Lee is a dedicated cellist who performs as a section member with the Fort Collins Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic, and Cheyenne Symphony. She earned her Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Yehuda Hanani, and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Taipei Municipal University of Education.
Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Yi-Ching is passionate about orchestral playing and values the connection and collaboration that music brings. Through her performances, she continues to grow as a musician and to share the joy of music with others.

Where are you from?
Taipei, Taiwan
How did you first get started playing?
I started playing the piano when I was four. When I was in elementary school, my major was piano. In third grade, I had to choose a secondary instrument. My mom said too many people were learning violin, so we picked the cello instead — and I’m so glad we did, except for the weight!
What’s your favorite thing about playing your instrument?
Definitely the sound. The cello has such a rich, warm, and human voice — it feels like it can express every emotion.
What do you like to do outside of music?
I love spending time with my family. Sleeping, baking, and enjoying good food are also some of my favorite things to do!
Why is music important to you?
Music has always been an essential part of my life — it’s like air to me. I grew up surrounded by it, and I honestly can’t imagine my life without music. I listen to music all the time — when I’m driving, cooking, or doing almost anything — it keeps me company and makes everything better.
