Lee Thielen

Lee moved to Fort Collins after her career in state public health that included 16 years as the Associate Director of the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. She was also the Executive Director of the Public Health Alliance, a consortium of 9 public health associations in Colorado. She is a nationally known public health consultant on public health infrastructure, working with the major national public health associations. She has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado. She has received numerous awards for her public health work, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in Public Health Practice from the Colorado School of Public Health, a Governor’s Distinguished Service Award, and the Joe Jabaily Public Health Hero Award.

Lee has a long time love of music, and one of her first jobs out of undergraduate school was on the public relations staff of the Denver Symphony Orchestra. She has been involved in the Friends over the years as time allowed, including serving two terms as vice president. She believes we all should be the best possible friends we can be to our beloved orchestra.

Lee and her husband Ken have one daughter, a son-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters.
