Hedy joined the FCSA Board in 2005 and is thrilled to continue serving as an Emeritus member and member of the Education Committee.

She has enjoyed a lifetime of music-making, playing the piano since early childhood and accompanying various groups and soloists all through high school and college, as well as playing clarinet in the high school and university bands and oboe and cello in the university orchestra.

Hedy holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Montana, as well as a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Colorado State University.

She has been an accompanist for the Centennial Children’s Chorus since 1997 and accompanies various local groups and students in their auditions, competitions and recitals. She is recently retired from CSU in the College of Engineering Business Office and is currently the staff accompanist at Rocky Mountain High School. She is married to Rich Shipman.

Hedy feels that music and the arts greatly enrich our lives and enhance the fabric of our community. She is proud of our superb Fort Collins Symphony and her long-time association with and support of the Symphony.
