William Brown

William Brown is an accomplished trumpet performer and educator based in Colorado, currently serving as Principal Trumpet with the Boulder Symphony and Music Academy, Associate Principal Trumpet with Fort Collins Symphony, and Second Trumpet with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. He has built a strong regional presence performing with leading ensembles, including the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Music Festival, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra and the Longmont Symphony Orchestra.
William has performed as a soloist and in chamber groups in prestigious competitions, including the National Trumpet Competition and at the International Trumpet Guild.
A native of Eastland TX, William holds a Bachelors in Music from Tarleton State University and a Masters in Music from University of Colorado Boulder. His primary teachers include Justin Bartels, Philip Hembree, Dr. Ryan Gardner, Dr. Brian Walker, and Dr. Aaron Jensen.
When not performing or teaching, William enjoys hiking, computer gaming, board and card games, and spending quality time with his wife Ashley, their twin boys, Noah and Luke, and two dogs, Ned and Lily.

Where are you from ?
Eastland, Texas
How did you first get started playing?
I began playing trumpet in 6th grade during beginner band. With help from my band directors, I began quickly improving throughout middle and high school, performing in All-Region and All-State Concert Bands and Jazz Bands in Texas.
What’s your favorite thing about playing your instrument?
My favorite thing about trumpet is the versatility in color throughout music. Trumpet can be used for almost anything, from declarative fanfares, sweeping melodies, contemporary music, soloistic music in front of a group, and in a jazz setting.
What do you like to do outside of music?
Outside of music, I enjoy hiking, gaming, and spending time with my wife and kids.
Why is music important to you?
Music has introduced me to my closest friends and my wife. Music allows me to express myself through sound, reaching many others and conveying themes and emotions that would otherwise be lost in translation.
