The Fort Collins Symphony, for a second year, will perform Liberty Marches On, a live July 4th concert at the Holiday Twin Drive-In. Plan to join the celebration of America’s 245th birthday with northern Colorado’s premier orchestra playing patriotic music at Fort Collins’ iconic outdoor movie theater (located at 2206 S. Overland Trail).
Under the baton of Maestro Wes Kenney, the Fort Collins Symphony’s 90-minute performance is a celebration of American ingenuity and resilience. The concert begins at 9 p.m. with background fireworks lighting up the dark Northern Colorado skies while the live orchestra is projected on the Drive-In’s big movie screen. The evening will include such July 4th staples as America the Beautiful, The Armed Forces Salute, Stars and Stripes Forever, and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. James Beckel’s Liberty for All features narrator Daniel Geldert reciting stirring quotes from the Declaration of Independence and Presidents Washington, Lincoln, and Kennedy. The orchestra will play two jazz-influenced classical Americana pieces by William Grant Still, as well as marches featured in popular movies.
